Ignite Energy Review Update
Since this blog was originally posted, Ignite Energy / Stream Energy is getting ready to open up the Met-Ed territory of Pennsylvania. For Ignite Independent Associates, or actually anybody in the Energy MLM business, the total Pennsylvania market has about 5.5 million customers, and the expansion into the Met-Ed areas of operation increases that number of possible residential customers.
Ignite Energy Review – Ignite, The Innovator
Ignite, the marketing arm of Stream Energy (located in Dallas, Texas) is widely regarded to be the first company to prove that network marketing was an effective business model for energy. They started the network marketing approach to selling Energy in Texas in 2005. Their concept was to provide affordable energy to customers in states where energy deregulation was enacted and delivering the service through home based business affiliates or Independent Associates.
Ignite – The Fast Mover
Ignite Energy (sometimes called Stream Electric) tore up the Energy business doing $70,000,000 in their first year and were on track to be the fastest company to $1 Billion dollars heading out of 2008. They stalled a little bit, reaching “only” $902,000,000 in 2010. During that time they were only operating in two states, Texas and Georgia which may or may not have been a factor in the plateauing of gross revenues. They opened in Pennsylvania in January 2010 and just recently in Maryland.
Ignite – The Awards
The June 2011 issue of Direct Selling News ranked Ignite Inc. 14th in the world, based on 2010 annual revenues, up two places from 16th in 2009. Inc. 500 lists them as the 198th Fastest Growing Private Company in 2009. Rob Snyder, Chairman of Stream Energy was selected as a Finalist for the 2011 American Business Awards. Ignite is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stream.
Ignite – Compensation Plan
In gathering info for this Ignite Energy Review, the following information was taken from “The Ignite Energy / Stream Energy Marketing Compensation Plan Presentation”. Ignite has one entry level, Director, with an initial onetime fee of $299.
Ignite has the following designations:
Director (D), Qualified Director (QD), Trained Qualified Director (TQD), Managing Director (MD), Senior Director (SD), and Executive Director (ED).
As with most MLM compensation plans each of the above levels are built upon obtaining certain numbers of customers, recruiting sharp people into the Ignite Energy business, and helping to develop and grow those businesses.
Ignite Energy Review – Income Streams
Ignite has three types of income streams:
Immediate Income
This pays the Qualified Director up to $1,100 for gathering at least 10 customers within 60 days of signing up and bringing 3 people into the Ignite business and helping them to get Qualified. To become a Qualified Director, a person needs to sign up 4 customers. Purchasing the optional Company website and back office for $24.95 a month can count as two customers.
Leadership Income
Director Leadership Income is based on new Directors joining your organization and becoming qualified in 30 days (enrolling 4 customers within 30 days). The payouts:
QD – $100/each Sponsored Director
MD – $175/each Sponsored Director and $75/Director in Unlimited Downline Levels in MD Organization
SD – $275/each Sponsored Director and $175/Director in Unlimited Downline Levels in SD Organization
ED – $325/each Sponsored Director and $225/Director in Unlimited Downline Levels in ED Organization
Residual Income
Ignite Energy’s Residual Income plan is somewhat involved, too much for this quick overview (this is not a bad thing). There are different Residual Income plans for some of the states they operate in. But to give you a glimpse of some of the factors involved, the number of customers a Director has will qualify them for eligibility to receive income down to six levels of their organization (20 customers gets you all six levels). Ignite also increases the payout based on the customers energy consumption.
Residual Income
Residual Income is based on qualified customers within your organization. These figures depend on the state where the customer is consuming the energy.

Ignite Energy Review and You
Ignite and Stream Energy are not a scam, far from it. The Ignite Energy MLM compensation plan is based on a basic building block of each Independent Associate bringing in 3 Independent Associates and signing up 10 customers for more affordable energy.
This is then repeated in each of the subsequent levels of Managing Director, Senior Director, and Executive Director. The point here is that most MLM plan experts say that compensation based on an individual person getting 3 people to join them is the optimum number for insuring success and “do-ability”.
So if you have found this Ignite Energy Review in your Due diligence search, good for you. You are acting like a real business owner. The next thing you need to do, besides getting with the person who shared the plan with you and signing up, is to ask yourself this question:
