We now know what Bounce Rate is and we have taken steps to begin getting some metrics on it. Now part of the Bounce Rate solution process is to use tools to analyze what is happening on your web site. No sense in hunting at night with a blindfold on.

Bounce Rate, Do some fast Analysis

There are several tools you can use, some cost money, some don’t; but because this is an area that has serious implications on the income you can generate from your website, I would rather impart all the information I have and let you make the decision. So here goes…

Bounce Rate do you know where they’re clicking?

As I mentioned in my previous blog, I was able to see where folks were clicking and “discover” my site from my visitor’s eyes. In one case I found an optin that had a canceled form. Bingo, fix that and the potential for lowering my Bounce Rate goes up. Some other tools that will help you see some more detailed visitor page experiences are:

Crazy Egg – it costs $9/month but it will provide a heatmap like technology that will show you:

Were visitors are clicking on a page. It should be a link but it may not be.

Were visitors are spending the most time on your page. This will let you rearrange your page “real estate” so actionable items are where your visitors spend most of their time.

What links are being clicked on. This is great if you have not gotten into tagging your web page or creating different links for different parts of your website.

Click Tale – it has a free trial period, then starts at $79/month. Click Tale will show you, in real time, the screens of your visitors. A video will be created on how your visitors are behaving on your website. With this info you will be able to see/monitor their mouse behavior, how long they are on your site, and what actions they took. For repeat visitors you can see what and where they are most focused on, how folks interact with any forms or comment boxes or RSS subscribe buttons. The link to Click Tale (Free Trial) is here.

LiveBall – (sit down, please) LiveBall starts at $1,250/month. Breathe. This service is the premier resource for serious online marketers. This maybe a little overkill if you are using a blog to generate leads for your MLM or Network Marketing business. But as you get bigger (I believe in you), or if you really and truly run your online business via PPC or other paid forms of traffic, this is amazing in reducing your site’s Bounce Rate. LiveBall is really (and if you are at this level, welcome to my blog) for those folks with larger budgets and who are looking for insights on A/B Testing, Lead Generation, Landing Page Optimization and Production, etc. The link to LiveBall is here.

These are all some excellent choices to help you get a handle on just what is going on, on your website. They kind of go up the scale as far as cost and what they can offer. I hope you can take advantage of some of them.

Warning! You have a Bounce Rate, and what you don’t know about it could be thwarting all your SEO efforts. Now you may be thinking, Bounce Rate? What the heck is that? Is it some kind of computer virus or worm or Trojan horse? Well it is not one of those, but it could be more damaging to your online business. The worst part is, it is self inflicted.

Bounce Rate is self inflicted, why would you do that?

The best part is, it is self inflicted and therefore fixable.

From Google Analytics Help, “Bounce Rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page. Use this metric to measure visit quality – a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages aren’t relevant to your visitors. The more compelling your landing pages, the more visitors will stay on your site and convert. You can minimize bounce rates by tailoring landing pages to each keyword and ad that you run. Landing pages should provide the information and services that were promised in the ad copy.”

In other words, your website is acting like the stereotypical MLM/Network Marketer; lurking in the produce isle at the local supermarket, pouncing on anybody within a three foot circumference, asking the hapless victim if they have a dream and want to make tons of money and save their marriage and…no regard at all for what the person actually wants.

Bounce Rate is fixable, but you have to know what it is

We can do some things to fix your Bounce Rate, the first being to find out what it is. So here are the steps to begin to get a handle on your site’s Bounce Rate.

Create a Google Analytics account and point it towards your website. To do this you must have a gmail account. If you don’t have one, go get one now Sign up for Google Gmail Account. I would suggest trying to get an account with your website in it, for example, mywebsite@gmail.com. This is just a suggestion and if you already have a gmail account you just need to sign up for Google Analytics at https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=analytics. You may have to sign into your Gmail account first.

Bounce Rate and other metrics help your site be better

Follow the instructions and if you have just started your account, periodically go back to Google Analytics to see if traffic data has been generated. Some of the data gathered will absolutely astound you. A little personal insight, when I first started looking for my Bounce Rate, within the Google Analytics data, there is a page that shows you where people are clicking on your main page.

One of my page tabs was getting 20% of the clicks but I was not seeing anything (i.e. leads) flow from that page (something you can do with Aweber forms). So I checked out the page and somehow I had canceled the list associated with the form. So I fixed it and now I cut down to 0 the 100% disappointment the 20% of my viewers were experiencing on that page. A better experience, a better feeling about me and what I have to offer…attraction marketing in progress and on track.

Now on to the Bounce Rate information.

When you get into your Google Analytics account there should be a Home, Standard Reporting, and Custom Reporting tabs. To get the general Bounce Rate, click on Standard Reporting and when that page presents, on the left hand side there will be a list of choices, click on Content. On the page that presents, Bounce Rate will be listed.

Do NOT Panic the first time you see your Bounce Rate

When you see the rate, do not do anything rash. We can lower that rate.

Folks, Other than “running out of leads” the next biggest fear MLMer’s have is presenting their opportunity to the dreaded warm market. The thought of enduring years of Christmases and Family Events with the brother-in-law screaming “Are you a Millionaire yet?” or “How’s that pyramid thing working for ya?” has them trapped into doing nothing. I am here to say that is a misinterpretation of the term warm market.

I will throw this out to you, folks like that, where you have some kind of (in the loosest of terms) intimate relationships are not your warm market, but your hot market. If you take those folks off your list (for now) and focus on those people, slash, acquaintances, where you do not have to vault over the “who is this stranger?” moat, you can build this business.

Because, seriously (even in regards to our newly termed “hot” market) who cares what they think of you?

The Secret to Success in 5 Seconds a Day? How is that possible? No way you say? (And I respond, with that kind of attitude it may take you 10).

How To MLM – Feeling your Self Improvement

One of the earliest books I read on Self Improvement was Wayne Dyer’s Your Erroneous Zones (I can still see the cover). The book really impacted me. I can also still remember after driving my sister to college, buying a Whopper at a Burger King (I just absolutely love Whoppers) and it was raw. I knew the whole world would end if I went up and asked to have my burger cooked properly…but having just read the book, emboldened by the logic of Wayne Dyer, I summoned all my courage, walked up to the manager and asked that my burger be cooked better. What a shock, the manager grabbed the burger and started to profusely … apologize and gave me a whole ‘nother Whopper as fast as it could be made. I learned a lot about myself and the wisdom that Wayne Dyer wrote.

Since that day I’ve followed his writings and bought his books when they came out. He has certainly progressed down an amazing path of self discovery and inner peace. Wayne Dyer has also taken to helping out PBS (Public Broadcasting Stations) across the country. It was during one of these recent PBS fund raisers I got pulled into another of his great seminars.

How To MLM – Nagging?

I know you have heard it before the nagging, “garbage in, garbage out”, you NEED to be reading positive mental attitude books, be around people with dreams and who are going some place. You do for a while, then watching the latest non-family friendly show on ABC Family is a “quick break”, the succession of YouTube videos are just a click away, maybe not the greatest stuff to be watching, and then you start nagging on your self. The harsh words, “you’ll never be successful”, “you call yourself a business person”, “you don’t know how to MLM“, and it spirals downward from there. (By the way you need to stop that.)

The round about point I’m getting to that Wayne Dyer speaks to so well, is all that stuff, good or bad, you are feeding yourself gets digested by your subconscious. The funny (that maybe a bad word here)thing about the subconscious is it doesn’t care if its been fed good or bad, it itself has trouble with what is real and not to begin with. But it does act to make the “stuff” you feed it true.

The battle then becomes to overcome the negative with positive, speaking positively, being upbeat, seeing the “half-full” glass, (yada, yada, yada). That can get difficult to do, but Dr. Dyer also mentioned this in that little PBS show he put on, the subconscious will believe what you tell it, and the more convincing or the better convincing you do of your subconscious will increase the speed at which it works to manifest those changes in your life. It has to, that’s it’s job.

How To MLM – What to do tonight

So tonight make sure you don’t watch any garbage right before you go to bed. Read something inspirational. Actually, you don’t have to do either of those things (although it would help), but before you close your eyes and enter the Land of Nod, do this.

Think of something positive, and say it in your mind like “I am connected to an unlimited source of abundance.” And as you say that, see yourself enjoying what you believe that would bring to you. A house of your dreams, doing the math in your check register and there is still $10,238,456.43 in the account. Then imagine how you would feel if (when) that were true, the peace, the confidence, the joy etc. Do these things, say, see, and feel a couple of times for whatever it is you want (how great you are on the phone, how you can talk to anyone, how your business is expanding beyond your wildest dreams, knowing how to MLM with the best of them) right before you drop off to sleep.

Imagine what your subconscious is going to feed on for the eight hours of sleep with such a huge and overflowing plate…

The Blog/Article Marketing approach in our How To MLM process can push your resolve to put together and publish a Blog/Article everyday. We all know how busy and hectic your day can get with work, things to do at home, prospecting, phone calls, webinars, and oh yeah your blog entry.

How To MLM – Blogging to Page Ranking

This methodology is not the overnight sensation, flash-in-the-pan approach to getting and sustaining reliable, ever growing traffic to your website. And as you are learning it takes self-discipline, resolve, and a pretty good imagination to keep coming up with ideas.

To be honest the Article spinning thing can be almost as cumbersome as writing an original article so whipping out The Best Spinner software and microwaving a blog or article in 10 minutes is a bit of a stretch.

How to MLM – Legal Shortcut

You may not be aware of it but you can copy someone else’s article…provided you follow the rules. Just for your edification. The following was copied (names were changed to protect the innocent) from an Article website, you will have to review the Publisher Terms of Service for the website you are leveraging:

1. You must not remove “Article Source: http://www.websitename.com” from each article you choose to publish.
2. You must respect the copyright of each author whose articles you wish to publish. This includes but is not limited to 1. resource box, 2. any links provided by the author.
3. You must not change, edit, or reword any part of any article not written by you.
4. You must agree to keep hyperlinks “live” so that users can click on said link and be taken to it’s destination.

So there you have it. A plan B to keep the mojo flowing.

The important part to remember is you must give proper props the to article you are “re-articling”. So what that means is you have to keep their links in the article/blog and you can’t pass the content off as yours. So a great way to bridge the gap between someone else’s article and your blog/article is a bit of honesty. Something like…

In continuing to learn how to MLM, You need to understand this business is hard work to begin with, it gets exponentially harder when you are subconsciously sabotaging yourself. No way, you say. I would agree with you, IF, you know this second thing. And what I mean my know is right now, sign me up in your business, and tell me what my next three steps are. Now, no batting an eye, no stammering.

How to MLM – Confronting your Self-defeating Tendencies

Have you ever thought about this? That one of the reasons you don’t follow-up with a lead on the phone or email, don’t stick your hand out to some sharp desperate person (Hint, right now everyone in your office, in the store, on the bus, train is desperate) has got nothing to do with “phone skills”, or “personal self worth”, or having memorized any scripts or cute things to say?

It has to do with the fact, that right now, above all that, the most terrifying thing that could happen to you is have someone knock on your front door, and say “Man you are hard to find, I used a reverse algorithm on the email your auto-responder sent, cross referenced it with a random search on Google and found your address…SIGN ME UP BABY! LET’S DO THIS THING!…what should I do next?”. Show me how to MLM.

How To MLM – Know the Next Steps

It seems pretty insidious doesn’t it? But honestly, do you know what to do to get someone signed up in your business? How and where to send them for training? Where the next meet-up is? What their next steps should be if they want to do the internet thing or do the belly-to-belly thing? Do you have it written down someplace?

Let me ask you a question, as a new person in YOUR organization, am I out of line expecting any, some, or all of those questions to be answered?

How to MLM – The Next Steps

If you do not know or have the Sign-up process readily available check with your upline first. What I do is this:

1. Congratulate the person for taking responsibility for there future, for believing in their dream. Give them your phone number.

2. Get a paper form with pen in front of them or them in front of a computer and get to your company’s sign up page. From the dazzle ‘em with your awesomeness aspect, you may want to have a directory on your blog or website that has all the steps and websites listed and hyperlinked. For example: www.myblog.com/mymlmsignuppage or something.

3. Once the credit card confirmation is approved, kick them out. No, wait… I’m kidding. Establish your relationship. For example, “John, I’m excited to be working with you, and I want what is best for you. We can approach our relationship in one of two ways. I can be your friend or I can be your business coach and help you build your business fast. Which one would you prefer? (Just a note, you are trying to lead them to the coach/mentoree relationship). When they say Coach, say great. (To be blunt, then start telling them what to do.) Okay, go to this website, or okay get your cell phone out and starting at the top, go through your contacts and list everyone you would no mind going on vacation with.

4. Be ready with websites for training, presentations, addresses for group meetings, your companies main website where they can go to get literature and “stuff” like that.

5. Discuss time commitments and goals. The specifics of these can be the subject of a whole nother blog. The point here being, find out what they want, help them establish an idea of the time required, assign tasks like attend any required training by such and such. Find out what and where they would most like your help.

How to MLM – Conclusion

There it is done. You now know what to do if someone actually says YES! to your opportunity. You have thought it through, created a plan and/or a template that can be used to duplicate.

Most of all, you have filled a gap in your knowledge base and comfort zone that may have been keeping you from whole heartedly building your business.

I am taking some time away from the How to MLM desk this weekend to be with my daughter as she competes in a Beauty Pageant. Amid all the excitement of something new, meeting new people, learning new things while we were at an orientation session, when the speaker mentioned something that absolutely sent the whole room of 300 some odd girls into a panic. They would have to introduce themselves. They would have to put together words and facts about themselves to say when they were introduced to the judges, and it got me to thinking…

How to MLM – Internet Making it Too Easy?

Do you have an introduction to your business? One of the things we need to be on guard for in this internet world, is that the internet is just a part of our marketing if we want it to happen fast. The internet is great for your business, not doubt, but it has a lead time associated with it. Unless you do something like pay per click, most of what is taught online, organic search engine traffic generation, will take time.

So if you are looking to move fast, you are going to have to have a personal approach (I know a lot of you hate to hear that, but it is true). While you are building your organic traffic results, you will have to be “meeting the people” and “pressing the flesh”. Now I mean that in a little tongue-in-check way, but if you are serious about this thing, you need to have something memorized to the point it seems natural to open the topic of getting someone in front of your business or product demonstration.

How to MLM – Talk with your Sponsor

If you do not have one, you need to talk to your sponsor or go upline as far as needed. Again, remember it is not only working the business, but working it in a duplicatable way. If you happen to be a desert island in the sponsorship area, you need to step up into the leadership role and start building a continent for your organization.

How to MLM – The Test

This is a test. You happen to start a conversation with a complete stranger, and unprompted, they blurt out, “Man, this economy is killing me. First the 401K got wiped out and now gas is $4 bucks a gallon, and they cut out overtime where I work.” What do you say?

Do you say, “Well my friend, I’m an Accountant (or whatever) at where ever, and things certainly are tough. Have a good day.”? And then walk away kicking yourself? Like that guy was going to scream at the top of his lungs “Pyramid Scheme, Pyramid Scheme!”? (To be honest, is anybody going to scream anything?)

And even if they didn’t lay down like that for you, do you think they aren’t close to that statement? Think they aren’t feeling the pinch?

This is what you say, “Hey my friend, I know what you mean, it certainly is getting tough out there. But I’ve been fortunate enough to find something that helps. I’m just going to throw this out there. Do you keep an open mind to side projects if they don’t interfere with what you are currently doing?”

How to MLM – Conclusion

Very non-aggressive, permission based. Then you go from there. If you don’t know how or are not doing this when the opportunity presents its self, seriously, who are you kidding about having a business?

Simple preparation on the little things, will give you the confidence to do these things as well as build up the efforts that can help you validate and reinforce the idea you deserve the fruits of your business.

You’ve been drooling over the prospect of Facebook making you millions in your Network Marketing business. In fact, when you were thinking of How to MLM this time, Facebook was going to be the difference maker. No more 500 pound phone, no more opening your mouth and having nothing but sand and strange warblings spew out. It was the dawn of a new day.

Facebook, the new How to MLM?

But there it sits, after creating your personal page and reading tons of articles and viewing YouTube videos on “How to Set up Your Own Facebook Page for Business” until your eyes bulged out of your head. It sits there doing nothing. Maybe if you change a font color or font size you think.

Well get ready to run. I am going to share 4 free ways and 1 paid way to Promote your Page. Here goes…

1. Create an enticing Page. If your page looks like the proverbial “two by fours slapped together” you will not draw folks into your world. There are applications like the discussion board and YouTube video box that you can add to your Page. The ability to leave an opinion, view an interesting video will help engage the visitor. Give viewers a reason to become a fan of your Page.

2. Use the News Feed. This will help you leverage the viral nature of Facebook. A seridipity of creating an enticing Page is the interactions of visitors on the Page that activity is published to their News Feed. Which goes out to their friends. So when someone becomes a fan, or posts a comment, or attends one of your events, that gets fed to that visitor’s friends, who can interact, and it gets fed to their friends, and it goes and goes. That’s the viral power of Facebook.

3. Tap your own network. You have Facebook friends, professional acquaintances, maybe email subscribers and blog readers, and vendors, and the list can go on, and on. Do they know they can become a fan of your business on Facebook? Have you told them? Have you asked them? Your emails from this day forward to any and everybody should have a link to your Page in your email signature. Blog about your Facebook Page and post a link or badge back to your Facebook Page.

4. Make your Page searchable publicly. This searchability is a default because the Page is Public, but who knows what box you clicked or un-clicked when you were sleep deprived and seeing double when you built your page, straight from the YouTube video that finally made sense (why are they always the last one?).
